Perfection, strength, and impermeability are great, but those qualities aren't necessarily relatable... or funny. This workshop is all about allowing ourselves to be more vulnerable and human as we improvise. Exercises will focus on accessing character wants, weaknesses, and emotional core. By tapping into honest, open-hearted, scene-work, participants will walk away with a more vital and satisfying style of play. Elana Fishbein is a teacher and improvisor at the Magnet Theater in New York City. She can be seen performing weekly with the Armando Diaz Experience. Elana has worked with students of all ages, designing improv curriculum and facilitating workshops for corporations, non-profits, and educational institutions around the world. Her two-woman play, Sisters Three, devised entirely through improv, was a New York Times Critics’ Pick. Elana holds an M.A. in Educational Theater from NYU and B.A. in Drama from Vassar College.
